It's beginning to look alot like Christmas.....

Everywhere you go...  especially if you're going to be anywhere near my house, yard, or shop.

You see, around the middle of September, I really put on my thinking cap and start coming up with the coolest homemade gifts that I can think of.  It all began when my nieces and nephews were little.   We started a tradition at my Mom's house allowing all of the Aunts to fill the stockings with gifts for each little one in an effort to save grandma a little time and money.  When we started out, we were all buying little $1 and $2 dollar gifts because they were all so little that a pack of crayons and notebook were more than enough.  However, as the kids got older and our family grew, we had to find a way to continue buying for everyone and still picking out something unique that they would like.  In short they started testing our creativity, because the pocket book wasn't stretching any further.

As an artsy person, I began looking for creative ways to make Christmas gifts.  This year that creativity lead to a project in re-purposing and some lovely days at the flea markets.  But look at the awesomeness I came up with!!!

This fun little artist caddy was once a bread slicer.  With a little paint, some scrapbook paper, scissors, and a great deal on Sharpies, I think it turned out really cute.  I could even personalize it with Miss Liv's name on the front.

For my older nieces, I found some shelves that I turned into make up caddies.  I simply applied paint, and attached some clothes pins to hold their make up brushes.  Then added some jelly jars on the back to hold their cotton pads and cotton swabs.  A couple of bottles of nail polish that match their shelf color, and they are set.  It helps those messy teenagers get a little bit more organized all under the guise of "pop of color".  Love it!!

I had so much fun doing these little projects, and I still get to see their faces at Christmas at Grandmas.  I am so excited!!  So get out there, do some flea marketing and put your imagination to work.  And here's to you on your journey to happy, healthy and whole!
