Abbi and Ethan |
What a beautiful, crazy, exhausting, emotional beginning to Fall. As summer ended, we found ourselves in the midst of wedding ceremonies for two of our girls. One had been planned for quite awhile and the other literally came together in less than two weeks. Both fell within a week of each other. But at the end of the day, we had a wonderful time, gazed on two beautiful brides and gained two sons-in-law that we are so happy to call family.

Isn't she a beautiful bride? |
It was around 8 o'clock on a Saturday evening when we got the call. My husband and I had been installing cabinets and having one of those exhausting days when everything that can go wrong did. We were ready to call it quits and sit for awhile when Abbi sent me a text. Yep, a text! It basically said, "we have set a date. We would like to get married next Friday in Papa's back yard. We would also like to have the reception at your house the next day. Oh and by the way, I'm moving out tonight." Okay, so I know, I know this is an appropriate time to freak out and even yell a little. I
could have broken down in a fit of exhaustion. I
could have refused. But instead, I made one simple statement and stuck to it. I simply said, "What do you need to get ready for work tomorrow? Because that's all I'm moving tonight." By 10 o'clock, she had a bed, a toothbrush and a change of clothes... and was so excited to be in her own place. By 11 o'clock, I had an empty-ish room, a short cry and a deep breath. Then I had to pick myself up and get a good nights rest, because I had a wedding and a reception to put together in a matter of days. Long story, short...(if it's not too late for that), everything went really smoothly and I got to enjoy spending time with friends and family, too.

Mackenzie and Jared |
Now, Mackenzie took a different route. She and Jared had a long engagement and when they decided to get married, she planned every detail along the way. She made her list and checked it off step by step until the day arrived. She kept a level head, and they had a beautiful ceremony. And she did it all while going to nursing school to obtain her ASN and dealing with the devastation of losing Jared's father. Mackenzie and Jared have been through some really tough stuff but they have endured and come out on the other side. I hope the rest of their years together aren't as emotionally exhausting, but if there are tough times, these two will certainly come out on the other side of it closer and stronger than ever.
So, here is to new beginnings and wishing you a life that is happy, healthy and whole~
